Day 01 - Airport - Negombo
Arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport. Our SERENDIVA TRAILS representative and transfer to hotel in Negombo will welcome clients. Check in to the hotel and relax. Overnight stay at the hotel in Negombo.

Day 02 - Negombo - Anuradhapura
After breakfast leave for Anuradhapura. Afterwards do a sightseeing tour in ancient city Anuradhapura, the first capital of the island dating from the 4th century BC. See the sacred Boo Tree, world famous Samadhi Buddha, the remains of the Brazen Palace and rock carvings. Overnight stay at the hotel in Anuradhapura.

Day 03 - Anuradhapura - Polonnaruwa - Sigiriya
After the breakfast visit Polonnaruwa, the next majestic city in 11th Century BC, after Anuradhapura. The glories of the past heyday are still visible in the archaeological treasures unearthed and resurrected. From the tall statue assumed to be of the Great King Parakramabahu to the famed Parakrama Samudraya which is as extensive as an ocean, Polonnaruwa has it all in a compact core. Day 04 - Sigiriya - Hiriwadunna
Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Rightly called a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the unofficial 8th world wonder, Sigiriya is a monument that provides one of the most dramatic sceneries in all of Sri Lanka overlooking acres of green jungles. The giant lion paws at the summit leads to the top of the cairn, a palace in the sky. As you step between the lion paws, imagine yourself entering the wide-open mouth of a lion, the carving hewn out of the face of Sigiriya, no more to be seen after so many centuries. The palace soon became a courtly paradise of elegant pavilions set amid gardens and pools. To this day the most advanced technological apparatus and scientists are left baffled of the mechanics behind the hydraulic systems of the ponds at the water gardens still functioning perfectly. Could it be a valve through the interior of the rock or an act of God? The mystery still remains. The climb to the top could be weary but the sight it offers is worth the sweat. Acres and acres of greenery and the clear blue sky above you will be breath taking! For the old and not so strong, the gardens and ponds at the summit of the rocky boulder would offer a satisfying sight as well. Afterwards leave for Hiriwaduna to get the experience about real village activities which include nature walk, bullock cart ride around village, traditional cooking demonstration and lunch. Day 05 - Sigiriya - Dambulla - Kandy
Breakfast at hotel. Afterwards proceed to Kandy. On the way visit Dambulla Rock Cave Temple, Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla. The largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka, the rock from which the caves were carved towers 160 meters (520 ft) over the surrounding plains. A total of 153 Buddha statues, three statues of Sri Lankan kings and four statues of gods and goddesses also stand in the site. Visit Gedige at Nalanda one of the remarkable archaeological sites in Sri Lanka & enjoying the Spice Garden at Matale and take part in a conducted tour to get some knowledge about the growth and use of spices in the day-to-day life. In the evening, enjoy some sightseeing such as the Temple of Tooth Relic, Royal Botanical Gardens Peradeniya, an arts and crafts work shop, oriental market place, a bazaar and a gem lapidary where you can see how rough gems (particularly the famous Blue & Star sapphires) are mined cut and polished using traditional methods. Overnight stay in Kandy.

Day 06 - Kandy - Nuwara Eliya
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast in Kandy. Leave for Nuwara Eliya. Travel to the heart of the country at the highest elevation to reach the rolling clouds above you. Nicknamed “Little England”, Nuwara Eliya harbors many British colonial buildings and architectural wonders to be christened so. Celebrated as the birthplace of the world famous ‘Ceylon Tea’, the old Brits and the Scots would always visit the tea plantations at the end of the day to sip an extraordinary tea by yours truly. A city of mist and cold, Nuwara Eliya is the local winter wonderland sans the white snow! Green carpeted mountain sides randomly dotted with treetops peaking above the sea of foliage around you meets the eye Set out in the morning, feeling the cold refreshing breeze from the mountain tops, and stroll among the beautifully landscaped tea bushes. Join the expert tea pickers clad in colorful sarees and try your hand at picking the best tea leaves for your next cuppa. Visit a tea plantation & tea factory to see how the authentic Ceylon tea is grown and processed. Evening at leisure in the hotel and stay overnight in Nuwara Eliya.

Day 07 - Nuwara Eliya - Tissa - Yala
After breakfast drive to the Tissa / Yala. En route stop at Ella gap, Rawana waterfall and enjoy the rich nature. Afterwards drive for Yala. Afternoon enjoy a jeep safari at Yala national park, Yala is the largest in Sri Lanka and is home to wild elephants, wild boars, wild buffaloes, leopards, bears, deer and crocodiles. Large flock of migratory and indigenous birds are also found here. Overnight stay in Tissa/ Yala.

Day 08 - Tissa - Yala - South West Coast (Galle/ Bentota)
Breakfast at the hotel & drive to the hotel. Visit Galle fort, Galle Fort was built first by the Portuguese, then modified by the Dutch during the 17th century. Even today, after 400 years of existence, it looks new and polished with reconstruction work done by Archaeological Department of Sri Lanka, inside the Galle fort which is in a Dutch Colonial building in Church Street is the Cultural Museum. Visit a Turtle Hatchery. Day at leisure by the beach. The warmth of the sun kissed water of the Indian Ocean and the palm fringed pearly beach at South coast are the perfect recipe to unwind and relax! Check into the hotel and overnight stay in beach hotel.
